Kolkata/IBNS: National Award winning Bengali singer Iman Chakraborty has narrated a harrowing experience of facing harassment by a man on the streets of Kolkata prompting her to lodge a complaint with the police.

Taking to Facebook, Iman narrated how a man had passed some sexually suggestive comments at her while she was busy buying some fruits from a roadside vendor in south Kolkata on Thursday night.

Iman said she was returning after playing some sport with her friends.

"I had initially ignored the man but later experienced the visual abuse.

"I took the step to ensure the security of many women who travel at night daily," Iman said in the Facebook live.

Iman said police had arrived at the spot within a few minutes of contacting.

The accused, named Ranjan Majumder as Iman said, was later arrested.
