Kolkata, Sept 10 (IBNS): The fire, which broke out in a car-repairing garage at Fariapukur close to Shyambazar in north Kolkata on Thursday , has been brought under control.

The fire was first seen in the garage at around 12 pm.

As many as 4 fire engines and the disaster management group (DMG) rushed to the spot and firefighters fought for nearly 2 hours to bring the fire under control.

However, the garage, few cars which were parked inside it and several shanties nearby have been gutted completely. One local person was injured during the accident and rushed to a nearby hospital.

Firefighters said that the fire might have started due to short circuit and spread after a gas cylinder explosion which was stored inside the garage.

Fire department has started investigation to know the actual cause of the fire.

Two fire tender engines are still on the spot and the cooling off process is currently underway.
