Kolkata, Jan 8 (IBNS): A fire broke out near Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand in south Kolkata on Sunday late evening, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 9:30 pm. just inside the boundary wall of Jadavpur University's campus and few stalls, outside the campus, caught the flames very soon.

After being informed, as many as five fire tender engines rushed to the spot and firemen fought for nearly an hour to bring the blaze under control.

After primary investigation, fire officials said that a garbage dump, inside JU campus, was the centre of the fire.

"The fire somehow started from a garbage dump inside JU premise, between university's gate 2 and 3," a fire official told IBNS.

"Our 5 engines went to the spot and firemen used ladders to spray water onto the fire," the official added.

However, no casualty has been reported so far in the incident, while cooling off process is currently underway.
