Kashmir to get its first multiplex soon: Governor Malik

| @indiablooms | Jun 22, 2019, at 05:17 pm

Srinagar, Jun 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday said the valley will soon get its first multiplex.

Interestingly, the Governor apparently took a potshot at the administration, saying it takes more than four years for a person to get license for a Coffee Shop in Kashmir.

'It is ironic that the locals hardly have any means of entertainment as the cinema halls remained closed in the valley since 90s in view of militancy. People don’t have anything to do after 1600 hrs… and to set up a Coffee shop, it takes five years for a person to acquire license for it… so we have not been able to give any means of entertainment to the local people,' Malik said.

He was addressing a function organised by Doordarshan at S K International Conference Centre (SKICC) here.

'Now a person is attempting to set up a Multiplex in the valley and I’m hopeful that it will open soon,' he added.

Lauding DD Kashmir for doing a fantastic job in the state, he said the content presented on the regional channel is richer than even than what is showcased at the national level. 'There are many means of entertainment in villages, but there is a problem in cities. People living in cities have to rely on TV and radio for entertainment and DD Kashir has done a fantastic job in this endeavor. The channel is very popular in the state,' he said.

'I have been watching DD Kashir channel since I came here. And I think DD Kashir has quality and content superior then even Delhi in some aspects because of the rich culture of the state,' he added.
