Kashmir observes shutdown at Hurriyat call

Srinagar, Aug 15 (IBNS) On the call of Hurriyat and United Jihad Council, Kashmir observed a complete shutdown on Friday as India celebrated its 68th Independence Day.

According to sources, shops remained closed and the traffic was off the roads. People preferred to stay inside their homes due to the shutdown and restrictions in some of the areas in Kashmir valley.

The strike call was given by the separatist leaders and supported by other freedom fighter amalgam leaders.

Top police official based in Srinagar said that "we impose restrictions in some parts of Srinagar City in view of strike call."
