Kashmir issue an internal matter of India: BJP

| @indiablooms | Aug 07, 2019, at 09:59 pm

New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday affirmed that Kashmir is an integral part of India and Pakistan has no locus standi on the issue.

Responding to Islamabad's decision to 'downgrade' bilateral ties and suspend bilateral trade with India, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav said Indian Parliament has taken a decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. ''It is an 'internal matter' of India.''

"Pakistan has no locus standi on this issue. Indian Parliament had taken a decision about Article 370 in J&K, and that is an internal matter. No other nation has locus standi to react on this," Madhav asserted.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired high-level consultations in Islamabad with members of the cabinet and the National Security Committee.
According to a release from Information Department of Pakistan, the meeting decided to "downgrade diplomatic relations'' and suspend bilateral trade with India.
Islamabad, the release stated, will review bilateral arrangements and raise the issue at the United Nations.
