Jammu/UNI: Five people were killed and one sustained injuries on Saturday morning when a cab they were travelling in plunged into a gorge on Mansar Road in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"A Kashmir bound cab early morning just a few kilometres short of Mansar, met with an accident and fell into a deep gorge," police said.

They said that on getting the information, rescue teams were immediately pressed into and evacuation started.

"Five persons had died on the spot and one sustained critical injuries," said police.

They said that the bodies have been retrieved and shifted to the district hospital.

The injured person is also hospitalised and is under treatment.

"All those killed are suspected to be of one family but we are identifying the bodies for more details and further action," police added.
