Kashmir avalanches : Army death toll rises to 14

Srinagar, Jan 27 (IBNS) : The number of army men killed in Jammu and Kashmir avalanche tragedy rose to 14 with the recovery of bodies of four missing soldiers in the Gurej sector on Friday, reports said.

Two avalanches hit army personnel in Gurez sector on Wednesday evening trapping several soldiers under the debris. While seven personnel were rescued alive by the teams, bodies of 10 soldiers were recovered on Thursday.

Four other soldiers, who were in a patrol party, went missing following an avalanche.

Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man died after he came under an avalanche in Uri sector of Baramulla district, NDTV reported.

More than 20 people, including army personnel and four members of a family, have died in avalanches since Wednesday.
