Kashmir: 42 militants killed in past three months, claim police
Srinagar/UNI: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Tuesday said 42 militants have been killed during the past three months in different encounters.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a wreath laying ceremony of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who was killed in a militant attack at Maisuma in Srinagar on Monday, the DGP said 32 foreign militants were also neutralized during the past one year and a good number of them were killed during this year.
He said, "Whenever peace is restored in Kashmir and people remain busy in their daily course of life, our neighbors (without naming Pakistan) feel pain in their abdomen who are trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere by creating such acts of violence here."
"These are the acts of barbarism and heinous crimes which were condemned by every one of the society in whole," he said.
Referring to the recent militant attacks on non-local laborers, on a member of minority community and CRPF personnel in Kashmir valley, the police chief said these attacks are clear examples of savagery and insanity.
"Those who are performing their duties to safeguard the common people are being targeted. It is a shameful act such acts will not be tolerated in any way," the DGP said.
He said, "When an animal is being made of humans, he is doing acts of violence and police know how to deal with him."
He said this act of frustration of the militants is connected to the other side (Pakistan) which we understand and all will meet their destiny.
"Everyone, including civil society, condemned these attacks. We also condemn these attacks and serious action would be taken in these incidents," he said.
The DGP said police and security forces will continue work for the restoration of peace and harmony in the Kashmir valley.
"The month of Ramadan begins with a message of peace and harmony and people all across the world are praying for the betterment," he said and added, "Those who have indulged in violence will be dealt with in the land of the law."
He said the presence of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) has remained always and Police and security forces are after them to put them out of circulation besides law of the land would take note against them.
He said the counter terrorist operation would continue and there would be no ease in them rather would be conducted forcefully.
