Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, CM Yediyurappa termed that the phone tapping was a serious issue, and several leaders including Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah, and others had urged to conduct a comprehensive probe into the illegal act of overhearing the conversations of the political adversaries.

Informing that a formal order seeking CBI investigation into the phone tapping incidents would be issued on Monday, he said, "There is a need to unravel the truth and punish the guilty."

It may be recalled that phone tapping of several opposition leaders as well as ruling party members was done by the previous coalition government in their bid to save the government after resignations of rebel Congress and the JD(S) MLAs.

Senior BJP leader and former home minister R Ashok, several rebel Congress and the JD(S) MLAs, had also demanded the state government to conduct a proper probe to bring the guilty to books.

Meanwhile, former minister and rebel JD(S) MLA, H Vishwanath, who was also disqualified from the Karnataka Assembly, had welcomed the decision of the Chief Minister to order for a probe into the incident.
