Karnataka eases Covid19 restrictions in dists with less than 5 pc positivity rate

Bengaluru/IBNS: The Karnataka government on Saturday eased restrictions in 16 districts with less than 5 per cent Covid-19 positivity rate, according to media reports.

As per the new guidelines, private offices,gyms, resorts, lodges will be allowed to operate with 50 per cent capacity in these districts, Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa said.

All shops restaurants, hotels and clubs will be allowed to operate till 5 p.m., he added.

This relaxation will be e effective June 21 to July 5, the government order said.

The announcement was due to come on Saturday as the the restrictions were going to end on Saturday, said media reports.

Earlier in the day, neighbouring Telangana announced a full withdrawal of of the restrictions in the state.

Telangana government has also decided to reopen schools and educational institution from July 1.

Karnataka reported 5,783 new Covid-19 cases and 168 related fatalities on Friday.
