Karnataka: Drug peddler nabbed and Rs 10 lakh worth banned drugs seized

Bengaluru, June 15 (UNI) Central Crime Branch Women and Narcotics sleuths have nabbed a 27 year-old drug smuggler, hailed from Kolkatta, and seized from him Rs 10 lakh worth banned drug ‘YaBa’ (Metamgatmine).

Police said that on getting definite information, a team under the direction of Assistant Police Commissioner Alok Kumar, raided the hideout of Johangir Gaji, native of West Bengal, and seized from him 103 gram 1000 tablets, one mobile phone and 6 zip covers altogether worth about Rs 10 lakhs.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the drug ‘YaBa’ of Myanmar (Burmah) has been banned under NDPS in India. Jahangir Gaji was bringing the drug from Kolkatta and was selling each tablet for Rs 600 to Rs 900 to students, techies and youths through a net work established by him.

Parappana Agrahara Police have registered a case and investigating.
