Kannada writer Chidananda Murthy dragged and arrested by police

Bengaluru, Mar 25(IBNS) Karnataka police on Wednesday dragged noted writer M Chidananda Murthy out of a hall and arrested him for airing his voice on an issue at a programme.
The incident took place in front of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. 
 
Reports said the at an event in the banquet hall of the Vidhana Soudha to mark the birthday celebrations of one of the ancient poets - Devaradasi Maiyya - where the CM was the chief guest.

The 84-year-old Kannada writer Chidanana Murthy and some other people raised objection to the  celebration  arguing that the Jethadevaradasi Maiyya's contribution is much more than Devaradasi Maiyya. 
 
But he  was dragged out of the hall by the organisers and policemen in plainclothes.  Later, police arrested him with his supporters.

After the function, the Chief minister evaded questions on the icident while Kannada and Culture minister Uma Shree defended the government. However, he admitted that the way the renowned writer was taken out was wrong.
