Mumbai, Sept 8 (IBNS) Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, has set up a new record on Tuesday by securing the iconic Jatia House in Malabar Hill in Mumbai by bidding a whooping Rs. 425 crores for the bungalow.

Birla’s current property belonged to Y Jatia who in the 70’s bought it from M C Vakeel.

A senior official from the international firm that carried out the deal was quoted by the NDTV website as saying, “The bungalow has a built-up area of about 25,000 sq ft. This is the costliest bungalow sale in the city for now and no such sale of over Rs. 400 crore has taken place in the last few years.”

The 25,000 sq ft bungalow comes with additional open spaces and a large parking zone.
