Srinagar/UNI: Two militants were killed and three soldiers were injured in an encounter at the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir's  Baramulla, official sources said on Sunday.

They said a fresh contact was established on Saturday afternoon with the militants who had infiltrated into this side during the intervening night of Sept 18 and 19.

Sources said two militants were killed and three security force personnel were injured in the encounter.

Further details are awaited.

This was not a fresh infiltration attempt by militants, they said adding these militants had sneaked into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) during the intervening night of Sept 18 and 19.

However, after a brief exchange of fire, the militants had fled from the area, sources said, adding that later a massive search operation was conducted in the forest for about three days but the infiltrators could not be located.

Therefore, the operation was closed, but on Friday fresh contact was established with the militants.

On Sept 23, three heavily armed militants were killed by the troops at the LoC in Hatlanga post in Uri sector.
