Jhilmil fire: CM Arvind Kejriwal announces Rs 5 lakh for kin of deceased

New Delhi, Jul 13 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to family of those who lost their lives in the major fire, that broke out at a rubber and plastic factory in Jhilmil industrial area here.

Hours after the Jhilmil fire accident, Kejriwal along with Industries Minister Satyendar Jain reached the site to take stock of the situation and was briefed by the fire officer about the rescue operation being carried out.

Talking to mediapersons, Kejriwal said,'Three men lost their life in this unfortunate incident where fire broke out in a factory in Jhilmil Industrial area. Fire brigade did their best to save the lives of two people,but they could not save the other three workers.'

'The cooling process is still going on.The reason of the fire is yet unknown. Police will investigate and tell the exact reason of the fire. We are sorry for the people who have lost their lives in the incident, and we will give Rs five lakh compensation to the next of the kin of the workers,' he said.

'We are investigating, and if the fire safety norms are violated then the action will be taken against them,' Kejriwal added.
