Jet Airways launches new daily direct service from Goa to Abu Dhabi

Goa, Nov 16 (IBNS): Airline major Jet Airways has commenced a new daily direct international flight linking India’s famed tourist destination - Goa, with the national capital of the United Arab Emirates - Abu Dhabi.

Guests travelling from Goa, will now be able to seamlessly connect to Abu Dhabi and to multiple international destinations in Europe, North America, Africa, Middle East and the Gulf, ensuring enhanced global connectivity from India’s growing cities.

Ahead of the launch off of its inaugural service from Goa International Airport, Jet Airways conducted a multi-faith pooja and lit a symbolic lamp to mark the occasion.

The lamp lighting ceremony was led by K.S. Rao, Airport Director, Anil Thakur, Nodal Officer, Airports Authority of India and Shankar Reddy, Chief of CISF. This was followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting by Goa Airport Director, K.S. Rao. The first guest to be checked in for the first flight was presented with the boarding pass by General Manager – Sales for Western India, for Jet Airways, Anamoy Mitra.

Jet Airways flight 9W 590 took off from Goa International Airport, Goa at 0515 and arrived in Abu Dhabi at 0735 (UAE local time). The return flight 9W 589 departs Abu Dhabi at 2320 and arrives in Goa at 0415.

Cramer Ball, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways, said, “It is a proud moment for Jet Airways as we launch our maiden international flight from Goa to Abu Dhabi, which is also our 50th daily flight into the Gulf region. Goa is a famed tourism destination catering to international and Indian tourists alike year round given its wonderful climate.”

“This direct daily flight will allow guests seamless travel from Europe, North America, Africa and Middle East with our codeshare partner Etihad Airways and other interline partners into Goa, thus further strengthening accessibility to this international tourist destination. We are confident that our approach to provide Indian cities with direct global links, will prove very popular with the Indian diaspora worldwide,” Ball  said.

The airline will deploy a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on this route, allowing Premiere and Economy guests to enjoy the airline’s famed in-flight service, award-winning in-flight entertainment (IFE) programme and signature hospitality.
