Jayalalithaa expels K Malaisamy

New Delhi, May 15 (IBNS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo J Jayalalithaa has expelled K Malaisamy from the party.

Jayalalithaa made the move reportedly after Malaisamy said the AIADMK might extend support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under Narendra Modi's leadership.

Speaking to CNN-IBN, Malaisamy on Wednesday said, "Jayalalithaa's mind is open. We have an open mind. She doesn't like to commit with the result. Let us wait and see. There are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies. A change taken on a particular day will undergo a change day after tomorrow. Madam Jayalalithaa is a good friend of Modi. Let us wait and see how they will react."

Jayalalithaa on Wednesday herself refused to comment till the results for the Lok Sabha polls are declared on Friday.

"I am waiting for the results to be out the day after tomorrow like every citizen of India. All I can say at this juncture is let's wait for the result to come out. I will give you my comment then," she told reporters.

If the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) wins a clear majority, a new government led by Narendra Modi could be a reality by May 20, according to reports, even as top BJP leaders met the Gujarat Chief Minister in Gandhinagar to discuss their post result strategy.

Media reports said Modi could take office sooner if NDA gains clear majority.

A staggered nine-phase Lok Sabha poll ended on May 12 in India with projections in all exit polls that BJP-led NDA will come to power.

Several of the exit polls said NDA will bag at least 272 seats while some put the figure at around 282 in the 543 member Parliament.
