Srinagar/UNI: Militants on Sunday made an abortive bid to target security forces by hurling a hand grenade which did not explode in the downtown area of Srinagar, official sources said.

They said militants hurled a hand grenade towards security forces near a shrine at Nowshera in the downtown this afternoon.

However, the grenade did not exploded, they said, adding that later Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned.

Grenade was defused without causing any damage, they said.
