Jammu and Kashmir: Militant killed in encounter in Baramulla dist

Srinagar/UNI:  A militant was killed in a brief encounter with security forces in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Friday.

Official sources said that following specific information, a checking was established at Rafiabad in Baramulla. “Security forces intercepted a person at the checkpoint,” they said.

They said when the person was stopped at the checkpoint; he opened fire at the security personnel. “The soldiers retaliated, ensuing in a brief exchange of fire,” they said.

They said the militant was killed in the exchange of fire. “The slain has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, who had joined militant ranks last week,” they added.
