Jammu and Kashmir: Cop killed in militant attack on police party in Srinagar

Srinagar/UNI: A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was killed when suspected militants attacked a police party at Khanayar in the down town Srinagar on Sunday afternoon.

Official sources said suspected militants attacked a police party at Khanayar this afternoon. A constable identified as Arshid Ashraf Mir was injured who was shifted to hospital. The injured, who was a resident of Kupwara, succumbed in the hospital, they said.

Additional security forces have been rushed and entire area has been cordoned off, they said adding searches were going on when the reports last came in.

Police has collected CCTV footage of the area, they said.
