Srinagar, Aug 19 (IBNS): It has been two weeks since the PM Narendra Modi-led government announced major decisions on Jammu and Kashmir, including the scrapping of Article 370 which provided special status ot the state, 190 primary schools in the valley will be opened on Monday, easing situation after days of lockdown, officials said.

"Over 190 primary schools to open tomorrow," government spokesman Rohit Kansal told reporters.

"Relaxations provided in 50 police stations as against 35 police stations on Saturday. Duration in relaxation increased from 6 hours to 8 hours," he said.

He said government offices will be fully functional in the Valley from Monday.

Jammu and Kashmir Home Secretary Shaleen Kabra has issued warning against spreading of 'fake news'.

"A fake news is being spread that weapons of special police officers of J&K police are being seized. This is purely a rumour being spread by vested interests. It is categorically denied," Jammu and Kashmir Home Secretary Shaleen Kabra said.

"Public at large is further advised not to believe in such rumours/ baseless news and not to further spread such news without verifying from authentic sources," Kabra said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government on Aug 5 made major announcements by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A that had granted special power to the former state.

The government bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir with an assembly and Ladakh without an assembly.

Article 35A of the Indian Constitution allowed the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and also provided special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.

Article 370 allowed Jammu and Kashmir to have its own constitution, flag and right to handle its own laws except on matters that impact national security.
