Chandigarh/UNI: Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Saturday clarified that he was not going to contest elections from Gurdaspur Constituency in Punjab.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he said, "Contrary to media reports, I'm not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through his foundation @YOUWECAN."

There were media reports that BJP may field him from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency in place of current MP and Bollywood actor Sunny Deol.

Yuvraj, a sporting icon who powered India to 2011 World Cup, announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket in 2019.
