Is he a Chief Minister or Chief Pretender: Gautam Gambhir slams Arvind Kejriwal

| @indiablooms | Feb 05, 2020, at 09:07 am

New Delhi/IBNS: BJP MP and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday targeted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and called him a 'chief pretender'.

Gautam made the remarks at a time when the police claimed that the man who opened fire at Shaheen Bagh protest site in Delhi is a member of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

"He is an amazing Chief Minister!! He lied to Anna Hazare... Then he lied to his friends... He even lied to all governments... And then went ahead and lied to thousands of people from Delhi!! Chief Minister or chief pretender??" Gautam Gambhir, who had earlier also exchanged barbs with Kejriwal, tweeted.

However, it is still not clear whether the remarks are clearly linked to the claims made by police.

Kapil Gujjar, 25, who allegedly shouted "Jai Sri Ram" while firing near police barricades on Saturday, has confessed to being a member of AAP, officers of the Crime Branch told media.

The man had fired in the air for two to three times standing near the police barricade where several women and children are protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

According to reports, when his gun jammed, he was caught.

While being taken away he shouted: "Humare desh mein sirf Hinduon ki chalegi aur kisi ki nahi (in our country only Hindus will prevail)."

He was taken to police custody for two days.

During interrogation, the Crime Branch officers found some photos from Kapil's phone that established what he confessed-that he and his father had joined AAP a year ago.

In those photos, the man could be seen with senior AAP leaders like Atishi and Sanjay Singh, said reports.

The revelation can prove costly for the AAP just days ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections.

Delhi will vote to elect a new Assembly on Feb 8.

The AAP came to power in the national capital in 2015 by winning 67 out of the 70 seats.
