Iraq: Kins of abducted Indians meet Swaraj
"They are all very much concerned over the situation. I spoke to them and showed them the letter from our ambassador there that says the Indians in Iraq are safe," Swaraj told reporters.
"We are in touch with them (Indian nationals) through Red Crescent, but so far we are unable to establish any direct contact with them as there is constant firing on the streets of the country. However, we are trying to get in touch with them directly," she said.
Swaraj on Sunday held a high-level meeting with Indian envoys posted in several Gulf countries.
Several other government officials were also present in the meeting. Reports said National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth were also present.
Some 39 Indians are still held captive by the rebel group Islamic State of Iraqand the Levant (ISIS) in Iraq.
The Indian Embassy in Baghdad has opened camp offices in Najaf, Karbala and Basra for assisting Indians nationals in Iraq.
