Inspired by film, nephew fakes I-T raid at uncle's house in Mumbai
Mumbai, June 16 (IBNS): Inspired by Bollywood film 'Special 26', a gang of eight people deceived one of their uncles by posing as Income Tax (I-T) officials.
Officials from Charkop police station on Sunday nabbed all the eight people.
After watching the film, the mastermind of the group hatched a plan to fool his uncle.
Posing to carry a false raid, the group looted Rs. 1.65 crore, expensive watches and jewellery that was hidden at the victims residence by one of his friends to keep it out of reach of genuine I-T officials, reports said.
According to the police, Malad-based builder Ramjibhai Shah had stashed the cash and valuables at his friend Jayantibhai Sarvaiya's residence in order to hide them from genuine I-T officials.
Mewada hatched the plot after watching the movie at his Dharavi residence last month.
He also trained five of his friends to pose as fake income tax officials.
