Indians replace China to top UK's granted visa list for students, after ease in travel

London/IBNS: Indians have received the highest number of student visas in the United Kingdom, showing an 89 percent increase in granted visas compared to the previous year.

In the year ending June 2022, India beats China becoming the largest nationality to receive sponsored student visas in the UK with 1.18 lakh visas.

In the visitor visa front, Indian citizens made the largest portion at 28 percent.

Over two lakh individuals received the tourist visa between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, which is still 50 percent less than the 2019 level.

The 630 percent jump in visa approvals compared to last year comes with the removal of multiple travel restrictions.

With regards to work visas, Indians received 1,02,981 work visas and climbed uphill by 80 percent compared to the previous July-June period.

The British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis said, "India first again. I’m delighted that Indian nationals were issued the largest number of U.K. study, work and visitor visas in the year ending June 2022. More strength to the unique living bridge that connects our people."

"As this shows, we’re experiencing unprecedented demand for visas. I encourage students starting courses soon to apply as early as possible," he said.
