Unidentified gunmen shot dead a 26-year-old man from Hyderabad in the US capital of Washington DC on Monday, media reports said.

The victim was identified as Ravi Teja.

Ravi Teja, a resident of RK Puram's Green Hills Colony under the Chaitanyapuri Police Station limits, moved to the U.S. in March 2022 for higher studies, reported Indian news agency UNI.

Teja was searching for jobs after completing his master degrees in the USA.

The attackers opened indiscriminate firing on the Indian national.

Local police arrived promptly at the scene, secured the area, and transported the body to a hospital, UNI reported.

The Indian-origin person's family in Hyderabad has been informed on the incident.
