The Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh has alerted people to be cautious about travelling to Cambodia for jobs.

In its advisory, the Indian Embassy said: " All Indian nationals who are travelling for jobs in Cambodia and the Southeast Asian region, are advised that there are many fake agents operating in the region, who along with agents in India, are luring people to scam companies, involved especially in cyber crimes."

The Embassy said people who are taking up jobs should  do so only through the Ministry of External Affairs-approved agents.

India and Cambodia enjoy warm and cordial relations. In the 1950s, India was associated with the International Control Commission on Indo-China.

India’s contribution as Co-Chairman of this Commission came in for widespread appreciation in Cambodia, read a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Cambodia.

After the collapse of the Khmer Rouge regime, India was the first country to recognize the new government and reopened its Embassy in 1981.
