Indian Army, BSF exchange sweets with Pak counterparts on Eid along IB, LoC

Jammu/UNI: Indian Army and BSF on Wednesday exchanged sweets with Pakistani counterparts along international border and the Line of Control across Jammu region to mark Eid celebrations.

Defence spokesman here said that Indian Army and Pakistan Army exchanged sweets on the occasion of Eid-Al-Adha at the Line of Control at Poonch-Rawalakot Crossing Point and Mendhar-Hotspring Crossing Point in Poonch district.

He said that the ceremony is seen as an enhanced confidence building measure in the backdrop of ongoing ceasefire between both the countries.

'Greetings and best wishes of peace and harmony were conveyed to the Pak Army representatives from Indian Army. The gesture was appreciated by both the Armies and is expected to further promote goodwill and mutual trust,' he said.

Meanwhile, the troops of Border Security Force and Pak Rangers on Wednesday also exchanged sweets to mark Eid ul Juha celebrations along international border in Jammu region.

BSF spokesman said that the festival of Eid was celebrated everywhere overwhelmingly by Border men on Indo- Pak Border.

"On this occasion troops of BSF and Pakistan Rangers greeted each other and exchanged sweets in Hiranagar, Samba, Ramgarh, R S Pura, Arnia, Pargwal Sectors of International Border of Jammu," said the spokesman.

He said that this is the first exchange of sweets between the two border guarding forces after the Pulwama incident.

"There was no Cross Border Shelling since long and farmers on both side of the border have been able to carry out their farming activities peacefully," he said.
