India-UAE: Visiting Abu Dhabi Crown Prince plants tree in Delhi's Rajghat in keeping with tradition

New Delhi/IBNS: India and the UAE share a multifaceted relationship of which sustainability partnership forms a key pillar. This special bond is highlighted through a unique tradition of tree planting at Rajghat in New Delhi on Monday by visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In 1992, H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, planted an Amaltas (Cassia Fistula) sapling during his visit to India.

In 2016, his son, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the current President of UAE, continued this tradition by planting a Molshri (Mimusops Elengi) sapling.

Today (Sept 9), the Crown Prince H.H. Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has planted an Amaltas (Cassia Fistula) sapling, further strengthening this legacy. He is the third generation leader from UAE to plant a sapling at Rajghat.

This marks the first time in the history of Rajghat that three generations of leaders from a single nation have planted trees honouring the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, signifying the deep-rooted and growing relationship between India and the UAE.

Earlier during the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi  received Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Hyderabad House when they discussed bilateral relations and future areas of cooperation between the two nations.

At the invitation of PM Modi, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi is paying an official visit to India on Sept 9-10.
