India, South Korea celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties, Narendra Modi says it has been a journey of mutual respect

Indian PM Narendra Modi on Sunday wished South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeolh as both nations completed  50 years of diplomatic ties in 2023.

Modi wrote on X: "We are celebrating 50 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Republic of Korea today."

The Indian PM said: "It has been a journey of mutual respect, shared values and growing partnerships. I extend warm wishes to @President_KR Yoon Suk Yeol and look forward to working closely with him to deepen and expand our Special Strategic Partnership."

India-Republic of Korea established diplomatic relations on 10 December 1973.

Consular relations were established in 1962.

"Both countries formed a “Strategic Partnership” in the year 2010, which was elevated to “Special Strategic Partnership” in the year 2015 during the State Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Seoul," read the statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Seoul.
