India-SCO Meet

India may not part in SCO anti-terror exercise in Pakistan

| @indiablooms | Mar 26, 2021, at 10:50 pm

India may not join the anti-terror exercise that Pakistan is holding for the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reports suggested.

Indian media reports, quoting sources familiar with the matter, refuted an earlier report suggesting that India may join the exercise in Pakistan. They said no decision has not yet been taken in this regard.

The speculations started after the two countries toned-down rhetoric and issued conciliatory statements to achieve normalcy in the relations.

A report in Dawn, citing a source, said Pakistan has not yet extended an invitation to India to take part in the anti-terror exercise. “Pakistan has not yet made any decision to invite Indian troops to take part in the military exercise, he said.

The official said the Indian media had been running stories that Indian forces would travel to Pakistan for any military exercise for the first time, “but it was far from the truth at least for now”.
