India, Central Asia must reconnect: PM Narendra Modi

| | Jul 14, 2015, at 01:03 am
Dushanbe, July 13 (IBNS) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India and Central Asia must reconnect.

"Today I complete my tour of Central Asia. I return to India convinced that India and Central Asia must reconnect. It is important for the future that we seek for our countries and our region," Modi said while addressing at the Workshop of Agriculture Cooperation in Dushanbe.

He said: "So, we will improve our surface connectivity, as well as our digital and air connectivity. We will reach you through Iran and other Central Asian countries."

He said connectivity between India and Tajikistan will bring benefits to everyone along the route.

"Because, that will not only be the most natural way to trade, it will also bring benefits to everyone along the route. However, even as we build our connectivity, we will not wait. We will deepen our cooperation in agriculture and transform our relationship in every field of human endeavour. Because, the more we touch the life of every human being through our cooperation, more worthy will our cause be and stronger and more resilient will our relationship be. That is why this event today is so important for me," Modi said.

Modi will return to India from Tajikistan.

He had arrived in the country on Sunday.
