Belagavi/UNI: In his first public rally in poll-bound Karnataka after Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday announced monthly allowances for the unemployed youth as he subtly addressed the spar between top party leaders DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.

He asked Karnataka Congress leaders to unite to fight the BJP as he exuded confidence in his party gaining an absolute majority.

"All Congress leaders will fight the assembly election united and Congress will sweep this election," he said.

Announcing the fourth poll guarantee, Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge said: "An unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month would be given for graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders for two years if the party wins the election."

This is the fourth poll 'guarantee' the Congress party has spelt out after announcing 200 units of free power to all households (Gruha Jyoti), Rs 2,000 monthly assistance to the woman head of every family (Gruha Lakshmi), and 10 kg of rice free to every member of a BPL household (Anna Bhagya).

The Gandhi scion said that if Congress comes to power in Karnataka, it will fill all the vacant government jobs.

Gandhi also took a dig at the central government, saying that the country does not belong to select individuals like Adani, but to everyone. "Few select people friendly with BJP are getting all the benefits which are leading to corruption," he said.

Launching a tirade against the BJP-led Karnataka government, Gandhi labelled it as a "40 per cent commission government" and called it the most corrupt also.
