I am with NCP: Ajit Pawar after returning to party

Mumbai/IBNS: A day after resigning as the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar on Wednesday returned to his own party.

"There is no question of return. I am with the NCP and have been with NCP," Ajit told NDTV.

Ajit took his party chief and uncle Sharad Pawar on Saturday early morning to surprise by handing over a letter of support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claiming 35 of his party MLAs were with him.

However, NCP chief Sharad Pawar kept his flock together throughout which left no other option for Ajit but to resign on Tuesday.

Following Ajit's resignation, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis also stepped down saying, "We don't have the majority and we don't want to break parties."

Meanwhile, Ajit took oath as the MLA in the special assembly session called by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday.

The NCP leader was also seen hugging his cousin and Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule.

The NCP along with Shiv Sena and Congress formed an alliance- termed as Maha Vikas Aghadi- which will form the next Maharashtra government.

Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, who is set to become the Chief Minister, will take oath on Thursday evening.
