Hyderabad police's action would instill confidence among women- Mishra

Reacting over the action of Hyderabad police, Ms Mishra who was in Buxar in connection with another spine-chilling rape incident, told a section of media today that women would now feel safe to raise voice against heinous crime taking place against them.

Advocating for stern punishment for rape accused, Ms Mishra said that she was coming across with several cases of such nature. She said, in majority of rape cases the accused threatens the victim with dire consequences and pressurises her  to withdraw the case. The victims are scared of such pressures, she added.

Justifying the action of Hyderabd police in the rape case, which had triggered nationwide protests and demands from death penalty to public lynching for rape convicts, she said that the rapists must be shot dead.

Referring to the recent rape incident of Buxar, she expressed her anguish and said that  such incidents have put up a question mark on the safety and security of the women in the state. She said that frustrated with the attitude of police , some of the rape victims approach women commission to get justice. 

Earlier, a partially burnt body of a woman was found in an abandoned field in Itadhi area of Buxar district on Tuesday last. The victim was raped, shot dead and her body was burnt by the criminals. The identity of the victim was yet not ascertained.

Criminals incidents were increasing in Bihar where 433 cases of women atrocities had been lodged at the Women help line. Of these cases, incidents of domestic violence is maximum with 268 cases followed by eve teasing and dowry related atrocities.
