Heavy rain lashes Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 2 (IBNS): Heavy rain, accompanied by cold winds, lashed Delhi and its adjoining areas on Monday.

Heavy traffic jams were also reported in the national capital on Monday.

On a day when class 12 board exams stared, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: "12th class board exams today. Best wishes to all students. Massive traffic jams due to rains. Leave ur house early."

"Traffic police, pl clear traffic jams. AAP volunteers, pl help traffic police, wherever possible," Kejriwal tweeted.

Rain started lashing Delhi since Sunday night with Kashmir receiving heavy snowfall.

According to an official Indian Meteorological Department statement, "Till Monday 5.30 a.m., Delhi received 56.8mm rainfall. It is likely to rain more. The day ahead is also likely to be overcast."
