Ranchi/UNI: Hearing on the bail petition of jailed former Bihar chief minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has been deferred till November 22.

The court of justice Apresh Kumar Singh gave November 22 as the next date of hearing in the case. In his bail plea, Mr Yadav has cited his growing age and ill health as reasons for bail. The lawyers of Mr Yadav said that since their client has spent more than half the tenure of the imprisonment in jail therefore he was eligible for bail.

Lalu Yadav was convicted by a special CBI court in Deoghar Treasury case of the Fodder Scam and was awarded 3.5 years of imprisonment on December 23, 2017 and since then he has been in jail.

On March 17, 2018 after his health declined he was admitted to RIMS and subsequently sent to AIIMS New Delhi. On May 11, 2018 he was granted six weeks of provisions bail which was extended to August 14 and later to August 28.

The court on August 30, 2018 asked him to surrender after which he has been once again admitted at RIMS and is currently undergoing treatment at the paying ward of the hospital.
