Guwahati/IBNS: At least 11 migrant workers were injured after a Guwahati bound bus met with an accident in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday.

The incident took place at Bakuliaghat area in the hill district of Assam.

The bus was carrying migrant workers from Imphal in Manipur to Guwahati.

The vehicle hit a roadside tree.

At least 11 passengers were injured in the incident.

Later locals and police rescued the injured persons and rushed them to Diphu civil hospital.

One of the injured persons is in critical condition.

According to the locals, the bus was over speeding and hit a roadside tree.

“The bus was over speeding and may be the driver lost his control over the vehicle,” a local resident told IBNS.

Over 30,000 people from Assam, who were stranded in different parts of North East and other parts of India, have returned to Assam after the state government made arrangements for them amid lockdown.

Assam has reported 64 positive cases for COVID-19 so far and out of them 39 patients were discharged from hospitals.
