At least 10 workers are feared trapped after a massive crane collapsed at a construction site in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on Wednesday evening, triggering a major rescue operation.

Officials said around 10-15 workers may be trapped beneath the debris after the crane collapsed at the site in the Kudasan area of the state capital.

Authorities have rescued four workers so far.

Rescue operation underway

Police and fire officials rushed to the construction site soon after receiving information about the collapse.

“A local police team and four fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene. A rescue operation is being carried out on a war footing,” an official said.

Rescue personnel are currently working to locate and evacuate those believed to be trapped beneath the collapsed structure.

Ambulances deployed at site

Several ambulances have also been deployed at the site to provide immediate medical assistance to rescued workers.

Officials said the number of people trapped and the extent of injuries are still being ascertained. Further details are awaited as the rescue operation continues.
