New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said his government is working on a 'war footing' to clean the Yamuna river and added that a six point action plan has been made in this regard, which will be implemented under his supervision.

"Yamuna river is our lifeline, but its water is very dirty. It cannot be cleaned in two days. During the polls (Assembly), I had promised to clean the river.

"I am hopeful that by February, 2025, we will clean Yamuna and I will take a dip in the clean water," said Kejriwal, while addressing a press conference virtually.

The six-point plan highlighted by the Delhi Chief Minister includes making new sewage treatment plants (STP); enhancing capacity of old ones; installing new technologies for outcome of 10/10 purity; in-situ sanitation of four big drains, including Najafgarh, Ghazipur and Shahdara, which carry dirty water to Yamuna; de-silting and rehabilitation of the whole sewer network, and treatment of industrial waste for all industries.

"The industries, which will not send their waste for treatment, will be shut down," said Kejriwal.
