Godman arrested for duping Thane woman of Rs 15 lakh: Police
Thane, Jul 16 (UNI) The city police on Monday arrested a fake godman cum healer from Jalgaon on the alleged charges of cheating a Thane woman to the tune of Rs 15 lakhs promising to cure her of all the problems and evils the police said on Tuesday.
The police said that the woman from Vrindavan society faced problems in her family including the accident of her son. Consequent upon this her friend suggested her for healing from a person in the city.
She approached the person Ganesh Salunke who in turn directed her to the fake godman cum healer, Rahul More. More who was in waiting for a customer was happy that he got a customer and suggested her certain rituals to cure her family including her husband and son of all the sufferings and evils and from time to time extracted money from her from December 2017 to June 2019.
The victim woman operated a beauty parlor and from her earnings and mortgaging her ornaments she made up the money and paid a sum of Rs 15 lakhs to the fake godman. She was made to chant certain verses and also wear the blessed strings. As she did not not get any results having realized that she has been cheated she approached the Kalwa police station and filed the present complaint against both the accused persons.
Following the complaint and registering of the case under the Prevention of Black Magic Act the police first on July 7, arrested Ganesh Salunke, and during the interrogation came to know that the fake godman Rahul More, 26 was in Jalgaon and arrested him on Monday.
The Kalwa police are carrying out further probe into the crime the police said.
