Panaji, May 28 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant unveiled portrait of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar at ministerial block at State Secretariat at Porvorim, near the city, on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said,'We have unveiled a portrait of Veer Savarkar in the State Assembly so that his deeds in the freedom movement should reach the youngsters of today. His contribution to freedom struggle should reach people. The tortures endured by Veer Savarkar during freedom struggle in Andaman prison in 1883 have been forgotten. People should read his autobiography. This should reach people.'

'We did not do an official programme. We just installed a portrait. The new generation should learn from these leaders. They should not forget them by looking at the portraits again and again,' he said.
