At least four people died after a four-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Mustafabad area on Saturday, with rescue workers trying to pull out people who were trapped under the debris.

The incident occurred around 3 am.

Rescue operation is currently being performed by teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services and Delhi Police.

Senior police officer Sandeep Lamba told ANI news agency that four people have died in the building collapse.

He said 14 people have been rescued from under the debris.

"About 8 to 10 people can still be trapped under debris," he said.

Police have started to probe the cause of the collapse of the building.

The building collapsed just hours after heavy rainfall and thunderstorms lashed Delhi.
