Kolkata/UNI:  A thick fog disrupted normal flight service in Kolkata airport on Tuesday morning.

Low visibility postponed 27 flights from taking off on time.

The arrival of 5 flights was also postponed.

One flight was redirected.

The fog caused disturbances somewhere in the range of 4.30 am and 9.30 am, said an air terminal authority.

The visibility began dropping around 4.30 am, prompting disturbance.

Takeoff of flights stopped around 6.40 am when the perceivability dipped under 50 meters, air terminal sources said.

At 8 am, when visibility went up to 100 meters, planes began taking off once more.

A SpiceJet flight for Bagdogra was the first to take off at 8.14 am.
