New Delhi/UNI: Following infection of five Supreme Court judges with H1N1, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has swung into action and taken several preventive measures, including keeping them in home isolation and sanitising court premises.

In order to curb the situation in the apex court, all the five judges were kept in home isolation. Of them, three judges have already resumed their duty and two continue to be under home isolation/observation and are recovering.

In addition, the court rooms and residences were being sanitised, a government statement said here on Tuesday.

Prophylactic treatment was given to all who had come in contact with them, including their family members.

Further, the First Aid Post (FAP) of CGHS was strengthened at the Supreme Court premises.

To enhance awareness regarding preventive measures, an H1N1 sensitisation workshop for lawyers and other staff members will also be conducted by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at Bar Council of India office on Wednesday, the release added.

Although, Swine Flu, which is caused by H1N1 virus, is a seasonal infection which usually occurs every year with two peaks (one in January to March and the other between July and September), the Health Ministry has requested the public to take the preventive measures such as covering their nose and mouth with a tissue/handkerchief while coughing or sneezing; washing their hands often with soap and water; avoiding crowded places; avoiding touching their eyes, nose or mouth; staying away from crowded places if having cough/cold; drinking plenty of water; sleeping well.

In case of any symptoms, it suggested that the nearest public health facility be contacted immediately.
