Five of a family die in massive fire in Assam’s Dibrugarh

Guwahati, Oct 19 : Five people of a family, including two children, died in a massive fire that broke out in Assam’s Dibrugarh district last night.

According to the reports, the incident took place at Thermal Niz Kadamoni village area at around 1-30 am while the family was asleep.

The five members of the family reduced to ashes after a cooking gas cylinder exploded and it led of a deadly fire.

At least three houses were gutted in the fire.

Properties worth several lakh of rupees were reduced to ashes by the fire.

The five deceased were identified as Shankar Sonar, Bishal Sonar, Maya Sonar, Shibu Sonar, and Nunu.

Later, fire tenders had rushed to the spot and managed to control the situation with the help of locals.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to next kin of each deceased person.

He also expressed his deepest condolences and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
