Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, who is currently visiting India, met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in New Delhi for a delegation-level talk on Monday.

Sharing images of Modi's meeting with the Fijian leader, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X: "PM @narendramodi received PM Sitiveni Rabuka @slrabuka of Fiji at Hyderabad House for delegation-level talks."

Earlier in the day, he visited Rajhghat to pay tribute to the Indian Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

Rabuka arrived in India on Sunday night.

The Fijian leader will be visiting India from August 24-26.

This is the PM's first visit to India in his present capacity.

Apart from Modi, Prime Minister Rabuka is scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.

"It may be recalled that Hon’ble Rashtrapatiji had visited Fiji in August 2024," the statement said.

Prime Minister Rabuka is expected to deliver a talk on ‘Ocean of Peace’ at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), New Delhi.

Prime Minister Rabuka's visit underscores the longstanding and enduring ties between India and Fiji, Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

It reaffirms the continued commitment of both countries to further strengthen the bilateral relationship across all sectors and deepen our close people-to-people ties.
