New Delhi/IBNS: Facing ire from Allopathic doctors over his controversial comment on medicine, yoga guru Swami Ramdev has recently expressed confidence in remaining unarrested.

In a video which went viral on social media, Ramdev said, "Khair, arrest toh unka baap bhi nahi kar sakta Swami Ramdev ko (Even their fathers can’t arrest Swami Ramdev). They keep creating such trends, like ‘Thug Ramdev’, Mahathug Ramdev’, ‘Giraftar Ramdev’. Let them do it. Our people have become accustomed to such trends and our trends always reach the top."

His response came after #Arrestramdev trended on social media.

Ramdev, who is the face of India's one of the largest consumer goods and alternative medicine empires Patanjali, said at a recent event, "Lakhs of people have lost their lives due to allopathic medicines, their number being far greater than those who died because they could not get treatment or oxygen."

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had lambasted Yoga Guru Ramdev over his statement on allopathy and demanded the Union Health Ministry to either prosecute him under Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 or accept his accusations and dissolve the modern medical facility.

Facing the anger, the yoga guru on Sunday withdrew his comments.

Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding yoga guru Ramdev be immediately booked  under sedition charges for allegedly spreading misinformation on vaccination campaign and challenging Covid19 treatment protocols set by the government, said media reports.

The top medical body has also served a defamation notice against Ramdev, demanding an apology from himwithing 15 days for his comments discrediting modern doctors and allopathy medicine, failing which it will demand a compensation of Rs 1,000 crore from him.
